Last week, Tejari in partnership with CIPS MENA held the first briefing in the 2013 Real World Sourcing series in Dubai, and what a great start to the series it was!
Over 50 of the regions top procurement professionals attended the briefing which was hosted by industry experts Peter Smith of Spend Matters and Guy Allen, Real World Sourcing. This being the first event of its kind in the UAE, the lead up to the event created a real buzz and was said to be highly anticipated by many of those in the procurement industry. The event was held in the serine and stunning location of the Al Badia Golf Club where guests listened to best practice tips and real world examples from the two presenters.
The first half of the briefing touched on Making Spend Analysis Work, and the reason being that too often procurement functions are hamstrung by their lack of spend data. Even when sophisticated Spend Analytics are available, the power of the available information and analysis is not harnessed. This part of the session aimed to talk about making the most of the spend data you have.
The second half of the briefing looked at Taking on a New Category. As most of you in the industry know, starting a new category, whether an experienced practitioner or a newcomer to the profession can be a daunting prospect, however the process is remarkably similar regardless of the specific category. The briefing laid out a plan of approach for taking on a new category, or starting out on Category Management for the first time.

Tejari received great feedback from all those that attended and we anticipate that the next briefing in June will be as successful as this one.
